Stranded Passengers in Cyprus or abroad: the government pledges free repatriation

Late Wednesday, Transport Minister Vasiliki Anastasiadou pledged state support for all those stranded either in Cyprus or overseas by the collapse of Cobalt Air.

Anastasiadou said phone numbers would soon be announced to help passengers stranded in Cyprus or abroad.

"The department's priority is to help people who have been blocked," she said, adding that the government's assistance will help provide single tickets to travellers so they can return to their point of departure.

The cost of these tickets, Mr. Anastasiadou said, will be paid by the government, the Cypriot News Agency said. She stressed that this only concerns people who need a return ticket.

We learned that two tour operators were also taking part in the meeting with the government that was held on Wednsesday – Top Kinisis and Orthodoxou Travel – and they are also expected to assume the transportation of stranded passengers to and from Cyprus.
