Lufthansa strike: 1300 flights cancelled on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November 2019

Lufthansa Airlines cancelled 700 flights scheduled for Thursday and another 600 scheduled on Friday due to the call for a strike by the German Cabin Crew Union.

Close to 180,000 passengers are affected.

This strike commenced today, 7 November 2019 at 00:00 and is scheduled to last until 23.59 tomorrow, 8 November 2019. (Source: Air-Journal.fr)

The Lufthansa Airlines affected passengers will be entitled to fixed compensation to account for cancellation caused by internal strike

European Regulation (EC) n° 261/2004 stipulates that in the event of cancellation of a flight passengers are entitled to compensation of 250, 400 or 600 euros, depending on the distance of the flight. The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled on several occasions that an internal strike does not constitute an extraordinary circumstance and therefore does not exempt the airline from liability.
